Dear Freebsd,
I am very new to unix, I've purchased version 3.0 =
and I am getting ready to install it. Now I was reading somewhere that =
it may be posible to set up a unix box as a router. Is that possible? =
If so can I do it with Freebsd? And what hardware would you suggest for =
it? Right now I have a Intel pentium 233 mmx, 96 megs of sdram, DFI =
motherboard with the tx chip set, a Diamond stealth 3D video card, 10 =
gig Ide hard drive,=20
toshiba 36x cdrom, Creative sound blaster external modem, Awe64 gold =
sound card. As far as network cards go I have several to choose from. =
I have 3com 509 etherlink III, a few NE/2000 compatibles, Lynks pci =
adapter. Will this work? Right now that machine runs NT server. I =
really feel that Unix is the way to go, but I am goin to need =
help.(I've bought an onslouth of Unix and Linux books.) Also can I port =
the K.D.E. desktop windows manager to freebsd, or would you recomend the =
one freebsd comes with instead? I realize they are alot of questions, =
but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
