VLC, Firefox and mplayer got stuck already at configure, but there were details I did not mention. Before I tried compiling these ports I had run "torsocks pkg upgrade", and when I tried to build the ports I ran: "torsocks make clean && torsocks make install". This resulted in almost poltergeist behaviour on the computer. Today I tried running "pkg upgrade" without using torsocks, and after that all the ports I have tried to build compiled happily. I didn't even have to update the ports from svn.
