www.freebsd.org is a good place to start.

However, if you can afford it, I would strongly advise
purchasing "The Complete FreeBSD" from www.cdrom.com
 
The cost is quite reasonable - for less than the price
of one of those useless SAM's "Unleashed" books
you get a very good text covering all the essential
aspects of FreeBSD + 4 CD Roms containing
the full 2.2.6 release.
