Hi Terry and others: Thanks for your comments. I have a lot to learn from you. One thing that I have definitely learned is that SMP FreeBSD is currently NOT a stable platform and I should probably stay away from it for the main server at my house. But, I am quite interested in learning more about SMP and parallel processing, so I'd like to get a dual Pentium capable motherboard, but run it in single CPU (non-SMP) mode till the SMP FreeBSD kernel becomes more mature and/or supports higher granularity. I have read the http://www.freebsd.org/~fsmp/SMP/SMP.html page, and saw several good candidate boards. Does anyone have any recommendations on distributors who carry these motherboards at reasonable prices? By reasonable I mean < $180. (For example: Computer Geeks carries the Micronics dual Pentium board for $150 but I want to stay away from it because noone seems to have tested it yet - it also doesn't run anything faster than 100 MHz. and I can't use my non-parity RAM with it). Thanks. Bernie bad@uhf.wdc.net
