Greetings everyone,
I'm strongly considering upgrading to FreeBSD 3.0-STABLE, now that it's
out. I'm currently running 2.2.7-STABLE, and I'm wondering if there's a
recommended procedure for upgrading to 3.0. I downloaded the source using
cvsup, but the usual "make buildworld" bombed out:
[...]
cc -O -pipe -elf -Wall -Wno-unused -I/usr/obj/usr/src/tmp/usr/include -c
/usr/src/lib/csu/i386-elf/crtbegin.c -o crtbegin.o
/usr/src/lib/csu/i386-elf/crtbegin.c:30: section attributes are not
supported for this target
/usr/src/lib/csu/i386-elf/crtbegin.c:31: section attributes are not
supported for this target
{standard input}: Assembler messages:
{standard input}:73: Error: Unknown pseudo-op: `.section'
*** Error code 1
Stop.
Apparently this method of upgrading doesn't work for major version
upgrades such as this. Would someone be able to point me in the right
direction, please?
Thanks in advance,
Bryce
