I wanted to demonstrate that the X server still searches for an empty vty even if xdm is run in a particular vty specified in /etc/ttys. >3) Why does it only happen in SMP? I explained several times. This is a timing problem which exists in both UP and SMP environment. It is just that the problem reporter observed it with the SMP kernel in his set up.
