_How_ did you try to delete it? Deleting a partition just
makes it disappear, nothing else. In gparted and even in
fdisk (which you can also use for this purpose), the change
is visible after you've written the modified partition
table to the disk.

This has nothing to do with mountpoints. You haven't even
installed FreeBSD, if I understand you correctly.
