The sound card worked fine under Linux. I don't get any messages relating to pcm in dmesg. I cannot even do a 'sh MAKEDEV snd0'. However, if I do a 'kldload snd_ess' (which I don't know if I'm supposed to do), /var/log/messages shows: Apr 2 13:24:44 mail /kernel: sbc0: at port 0x220-0x22f,0x388-0x38b,0x330-0x331 irq 5 drq 1,0 on isa0 Apr 2 13:24:44 mail /kernel: pcm0: on sbc0 and the information is shown in dmesg. However, sound still doesn't work. I configured gnome to start esound and then tried XMMS using esound; didn't work - OSS either. Then I dropped out of X and tried mpg123 and it told me that /dev/dsp was in use. Am I missing something?
