Murray -- I'll bet the happy people on the newwsgroup comp.text.tex can fix you up. They do as much or more LaTeX than TeX. Also, did you check the ctan archives on the TUG website? My memory is that there are several that deal with inserting eps stuff; don't know whether they will convert to PDF.
