It seems that just about nothing takes into account the possibility of erase2 (VERASE2) existing, so I took a look and found the three most noticeable offenders (ncurses, nvi, and less) are all completely orthogonal. I went ahead and added support in all three, but I think we need to decide if the proper course of action right now is to get these changes accepted and finish implementing erase2; if we don't try to support it pervasively, I don't feel it has very good value. It's a no-brainer to add support to nvi, since it's essentially "ours" now to do what we want with. How many other OSen have erase2 support such that the ncurses and less maintainers will see the value in it?
