The answers I got were: These machines have TGA cards and FreeBSD does not support the tga (even as a text/console) and so it falls back to serial. Replace the TGA card with some other card (non DEC card i.e. an S3 card should work fine or the ELSA Gloria Synergy card) and try with that. Or else download NetBSD/alpha 1.4.1 and you can run this on your AS 200...
