For the records: As you said I have installed audio/oss and audio/esound. I couldn't start snd_uaudio at runtime, so I put snd_uaudio_load="YES" into /boot/loader.conf and rebooted. After that everything worked fine. On my FreeBSD 7.0 I can even see /dev/dsp and when I do a # cat /dev/sndstat I get FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 64bit 2007061600/amd64) Installed devices: pcm0: at ? kld snd_uaudio [GIANT] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex default) mode 1:(output) 8ch, 16/16bit, pcm, 44100,48000Hz mode 2:(output) 2ch, 16/16bit, pcm, 44100,48000Hz mode 3:(output) 4ch, 16/16bit, pcm, 44100,48000Hz mode 4:(output) 6ch, 16/16bit, pcm, 44100,48000Hz mode 5:(output) 2ch, 16/16bit, pcm, 48000Hz mode 1:(input) 2ch, 16/16bit, pcm, 44100,48000Hz That's it!
