In order to avoid duplicate work, you can check for updated ports there, and if none is available, a diff against the BSD# repo is mos efficient way to help. We plan to update monodevelop once mono-2.6.x is in the ports (mainly because of the soft-debugger support in monodevelop not being available in the version of mono currently availabe on FreeBSD).
