Subject: Compiling freetype with no X11 libs

Is it possible to compile freetype library on a machine with now X11
libraries? I need it for use with php.

When I try to install the freetype port, it at first starts compiling,
but then chokes complaining that X11/Xlib.h and the rest do not
exist. It only does that when trying to build some targets in test/
directory; so I am thinking that if I could skip building those test
programs, it might be possible to install the library after all.

Anyone has experience with this?

Thanks!
