I didn't mean to give the impression that I was angry about the lack of response. I simply took that to mean that people simply don't know what's wrong any more than I do.It is the fact that I don't know what could possibly be wrong and nobody else seems to either that frustrates. That fact is that I've have done a fair amount of research, especially in the list archives, and I have found people with similar problems, but for the most part they never reach a solution on the mailing list, or their solution doesn't work for me, or (many of them) simply never got any response at all. BTW, one thing I found suggested it might have something to do with ECP and EPP but didn't go any further than that. I personally don't know what they are, but my printer refuses to work whether or not they are enabled in BIOS. There are flags regarding them in kernel config files, though. But I need slightly more information before I try them. Thank you very much for the responses. I just needed any indication that my posting was alive to feed me some hope.
