Seems I _was_ running the version I installed, and when I removed it - deinstalled the ports and reinstalled the ports... *Wham* I get the same error as the "hand installed" version. So... I'm at a loss as to why it worked for that one brief moment in time... (sigh) But - now the version from ports doesn't work either.
