I've heard that some ATI cards don't even make it through the SRM console bios emulation code & are not usable as console devices. Can you use your graphics head as a console? Can you try a different card? Like a Permedia-2 based card (like the ELSA that DEQ ships w/their workstations) or a Matrox?
