This has also been discussed on the INN mailinglist. The changes in perl 5.8.9 are not compatible with 5.8.8 and current versions of INN simple don't work with perl 5.8.8 yet (although perl 5.10 is reported to work). For now the only workaround appears to either stick with perl 5.8.8 or disable perl support altogether in INN.
