I also have a CD-writer and a DVD, each connected to the one of the two IDE connectors of the VIA chipset. When I load the kernel from the FreeBSD CD, I receive the following message: ar0: 58623 MB (ATA RAID0 array> [7473/255/63] subdisks: ad4: 29311 MB [59554/16/63] at ata2-master UDMA100 ad4: 29311 MB [59554/16/63] at ata2-master UDMA100 (null) REQUEST_SENSE command timeout - resetting ata0: resetting devices The kernel does find the RAID0 array... but gives a timeout?
