I have a customer with a newly-installed FreeBSD system that would like to be able to mount a device containing an MS-DOS formatted filesystem (removable media). I have searched the FAQ's for "MSDOS" and read everything that I found, but I couldn't see any information on how to do this. FreeBSD fdisk recognizes and interprets the fdisk table correctly, but no partitions other than D are configured (due to the lack of a FreeBSD disklabel, presumably). I thought that something in FreeBSD "faked" a disk label for a drive with only MS-DOS file structures on it, but I am certainly not observing that behavior here. I am about to try to install a FreeBSD disklabel on the disk, since it was freshly-formatted and has nothing to loose. Also, while I have you on the line, how does one issue a low-level format to SCSI devices? That won't help for this particular application, of course, since they need a full MS-DOS filesystem out there, but for other purposes it would be nice to know...
