Maybe on newer solaris boxes it's different, but I've killed many a solaris nfs server by slamming them hard with clients (I'm talking 800 high end machines as clients by the way).. I actually prefer FreeBSD NFS servers over solaris. Granted, I have to do some major tweaking to make it run how I want, but the BSD boxes have always been faster for me than the solaris boxes..
