Thanks for your replies guys but still no luck: Here is the crontab entry: SHELL=/bin/bash 30 10 * * * /usr/local/adminscpts/update And the Script itself: #!/bin/bash #This script will automatically update a users home directory. PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/mail:/usr/local/adminscpts /usr/bin/su - user -c '/usr/bin/cvs update -d' | /usr/bin/mail graham@bravenet.com This was all set up as root. Thanks for helping out a newbie guys. Original message: Greetings, I am trying to set up a script file to be automatically run by cron every morning. The script works when I manually execute it. The path and time variables for the script file are correct but when the time comes for it to run nothing happens. If I set up the crontab file with the command(that I have in the script file) itself rather than the path to the script file it works! I've tried different permission settings but no luck.
