I discovered that th= is morning when X failed to start because the file wasn't found. I created it= per documentation, and X started. The pkg upgrade process (or the dbus part) should create that file when not found, if it expects to see it. The id is apparently unconnected to anythi= ng else in the world, so if I can create it in an ad-hoc way, surely dbus itse= lf can.
