We are using fetch -a

     -a, --retry
                 Automatically retry the transfer upon soft failures.

so it is unlikely a network issue between the client and the server.

I guess this is an issue with the front-end varnish daemon on www.freebsd.o=
rg.
Under some conditions (low memory, high memory pressure) the server returns
truncated results. Sad.
