No, that would be a lethal security hole.  If you managed to change
the shell to something that wasn't listed in /etc/shells you must have
been editing /etc/passwd - don't do that! 

Use 'vipw' to edit the password database.  /etc/passwd is only there for
compatability - FreeBSD uses a shasow password scheme.
