Just point ppp to the right com port (set device to cuaa1) in your ppp.conf file. That's why a lot of people advocate the usage of external modems over internal ones. Just know that... Do note that in case anyone was curious, this applies to external ISDN "modems" as well. Just point ppp at the right serial port and go. It may not the best solution (read the handbook for why) straight away, but it works. > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG [mailto:owner-freebsd- > newbies@FreeBSD.ORG] On Behalf Of Scott Spencer > Sent: Friday, February 22, 2002 10:10 PM > To: freebsd-newbies@freebsd.org > Subject: detecting ext. modem > > I would like to thank the people who responded to my first e-mail, > it has allowed me to narrow my problem. > > I now realize that my PROBLEM is that the OS is NOT DETECTING that > I have a > USR 56K EXTERNAL MODEM hooked up to my serial port 2.
