This is the default behavior.  If you like seamonkey (mozilla), use it.
But,  ...

firefox doesn't have a default mail: or news: handler
thunderbird doesn't have a default http: or ftp: handler

this only happens on windows or in gnome after gnomevfs integration (not=20
default).
