Many thanks to all on this list who have helped me. I installed 2.2.5 on my laptop from the graphic sysinstall from the CD. It offered me a choice of screensavers, and I picked the anamated FreeBSD deamon screensaver. I then wiped out that installation and reinstalled from the PAO-boot.flp graphic sysinstall. It offered me only "stars" "snake" and "green". I have since found the screensaver line in rc.conf. Does anybody know the correct string for the animated daemon? Do I merely specify the correct string, or do I have to get a file off of the CD?
