IIANM, Xorg 6.9 is exactly the same as 7.0, just packaged all together (6.9) rather than in separate modules (7.0). Thus I believe the assumption that installing 7.0 would improve matters is incorrect. FYI, RC1 without compositing enabled works flawlessly so far for me on -CURRENT.
