I'm getting exactly the same non-functioning behavior. The
"dmesg" output says that the AC'97 chip is there, but when I
try to read /dev/sndstat it says that the device isn't configured.
On a related note, we are trying to get X (xfree86) working with
this machine, and have set the "i810" (or "i810e") in the
appropriate "Device" entry in the X config file, according to
the README that was written specifically for that motherboard
(/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/README.i810). When we try to start up
X ("startx") it bombs saying that it can't open "/dev/agpgart".
Again, "dmesg" says the video is there, but X won't deal with it.
Any tips?
This is with Freebsd 4.3-Release.
Thanks.
