There are at least a couple of URLs dealing with this:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/forum/skype_linux-skype_startms-s=
kype_installms/end-of-life-of-skype-for-linux-43/70fe7036-ddf3-4fa3-9c06-1b=
ca3ec0226c

https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34773/common-questions-with-skype-on-des=
ktop-mac-and-linux

The problem is that FreeBSD is still attempting to use a very old versions =
of
Skype. Microsoft could never be held responsible for supporting older versi=
ons
indefinitely, especially when updating is so easy on most systems.

In truth, all of the "skype" ports should probably be removed since they do=
n't
or won't work for much longer, and the latest version of skype imported to =
the
ports tree.
