This seems like the perfect solution. I can't believe I forgot about serial port as a console. I have been away from term programs and been on the TCPIP for so long that I forgot about a this possibility. I just happen to have two dumb terminals left over from the old days in my graveyard downstairs (I think they are still there). And if not then I suppose I can use an old PC instead. -Jason ----- Original Message ----- From: "Toomas Aas" To: "Jason Cribbins" ; Sent: Thursday, April 11, 2002 9:50 AM Subject: Re: setup freebsd with no keyboard : Hi Jason! : : On 11 Apr 02 at 9:40 you wrote: : : : > : OK, if you grep /var/run/dmesg.boot for 'rl0' on this new box, what : > : do you get? : : > How is this done with no keyboard? : : Good question :-) I would probably try mounting the HD in another : computer as slave. : : > I was kind of hoping I would be able to find a way to connect to the box : > without using IP (which is obviously not working) and avoid the entire : > processing of tearing the box apart to fix this thing.
