You should install the new /etc/defaults/rc.conf from /usr/src/etc
when you do the merge, whether by hand or via mergemaster.  It may
be necessary for you to make some changes to /etc/rc.conf as a result
of those changes.  But I agree that this is one of the installations
that could be automatic.
