Had following line in rc.conf: ifconfig_wlan0=3D"WPA DHCP mtu 1480 county RU -bgscan ssid MYSSID" (which w= orks perfectly on my desktop with ath0) changing it to ifconfig_wlan0=3D"WPA DHCP mtu 1480 channel 9 -bgscan ssid MYSSID" seems resolved the issue :) Setting channel number explicitly accelerates raising the interface a bit.
