Hi there, I have the chance to build my own system from the ground up. This system will spend most of its time running FreeBSD, but will also have a Windows98 partition. One area of concern I have is how FreeBSD/XFree86 supports video cards: I would like to use a GUI and would prefer to use KDE. I have noticed that the XFree86 port that comes with FreeBSD supports many older cards, but it doesn't support some of the latest cards that are out on the market. This is understandable; BUT, I would like to get a high end card like the Diamond Monster Fusion that uses the 3DFX Banshee chip set or the STB Velocity 4400 that uses the Riva TNT chipset. If I happen to get a newer card that doesn't have an X Server in the XFree86 FreeBSD port but somewhere out on the web I find an X Server for XFree86 intended for Linux can I use this? How do I "install" an X Server not in the FreeBSD distribution of XFree86 anyway? Where is the best place to find additional X Servers? Thank you for your help, Dave -- >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dave Ason | dgason@mindspring.com <<<<<<<<<<<<<< To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
