I had a similar problem in past with 4.1-STABLE, have a look at: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=kern/21323 The problem was fixed, however if I add sound support in a 4.X kernel, I have the same hang: pccard0: on pcic0 isab0: at device 7.0 on pci0 isa0: on isab0 atapci0: port 0x8000-0x800f at device 7.1 on pci0 ata0: iobase=0x01f0 altiobase=0x03f6 bmaddr=0x8000 It really seems to be the same problem.
