...if you have had at least a "DOS" background, you might make some sense out of the BSD OS, but without any command or console experience, the learning curve will be straight up. But, as the earlier poster mentione, it's a matter of how much effort you are willing to dedicate to get past the point of likely frustration.... best to read the handbook and some basic books to see what you are getting in to.... if the handbook reads like "greek" then...???? http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ At 07:53 PM 12.20.2001 -0500, Rod Person wrote: >It was Fri, 21 Dec 2001 00:43:26 +0000 when I read this: > >> Dear Sir, I am interested in using the freebsd os on my computer. Installing FreeBSD is quite different from Windows and may not make sense to you at first and you may get too frustrated and give up. Knowing nothing my make think it's too complicated to use and install. My 4 year old can navigate and use app like xpaint and Opera but I had to install it and spent a good amount of time with her. I'm a programmer/sys admin as a profession and be using computer for almost 22 years, so you must be the judge of how much time you want to spending learning and how much 'pain' you can stand in your initial learning experiences. > >Rod > > >roddierod@yahoo.com > >"I'm a character in a world gone wrong!" > - Entombed - Returning to Madness > >_________________________________________________________ >Do You Yahoo!? >Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com > > >To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org >with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > > Best regards, Jack L.
