Could you show a snippet of > terminal window demonstrating the problem? I suspect this has to do with ncurses, not p9p. I see this problem in 9term running zsh but not rc or /bin/sh. I see something similar when running zsh on the console and when TERM is set to xterm (instead of cons25).
