What I will say is that the coward who sent John, That's interesting, with two decades of UNIX experience and kernel development, that someone of your stated experience wouldn't see the obvious lunacy to the NAPTHA "advisory". This "Denial of Service" attack has existed for a VERY long time (anyone remember octopus?), and the FreeBSD install can be easily configured right out of the box (and other services such as ssh are pre-set to handle this problem out-of-the-box) to alleviate this problem. More advanced measures can also be employed (man dummynet(4) for example) To say, "FreeBSD failed" in this respect is not only uneducated, but ignorant of the real issue. Two decades of experience? As I see it, you're doing nothing but spreading F.U.D with a obvious lack of knowledge of the problem. Perhaps you should spend more time re-examining your "experience" and perhaps seek re-education before you start posting to the mailing lists (a good place to start on your journey would be by subscribing to freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG -- It's not too fast paced and you should have no problem keeping up.)
