I'm not sure: is it a question about CPUTYPE flag in /etc/make.conf?
Because right after my first reply I saw this in
/usr/share/examples/etc/make.conf (about CPUTYPE):

> # Currently the following CPU types are recognized:

> #       (AMD CPUs)      athlon-mp athlon-xp athlon-4 athlon-tbird athlon k6-3

Probably setting CPUTYPE=k6-2 would be best.
