You made a fair bit of noise on the FreeBSD bugs list about your Compaq Deskpro XL and its SCSI controller, which you said: =================================================================== In 2.1.1 of the current Handbook, "Disk Controllers", last updated 2-Mar-1999, there is a list of devices known to be supported. This includes: NCR5380/NCR53400 (``ProAudio Spectrum'') SCSI controller. However, for the current FreeBSD release (3.1) this is incorrect. =================================================================== But *now* you say you have an AMD chip! As it turns out, there *is* a FreeBSD/CAM driver for the AMD 53c974, but it just hasn't been checked in yet. (Justin is still reviewing it.) It was written by a guy at Tekram. (they should be commended for their support for free software..) Anyway, before you complain, you should make sure that you're complaining about the right thing. If you had said that you were having trouble with getting an AMD chip working, you would have gotten the driver in short order.
