So unless you put linux partitions on logical DOS/win9X partition, you have to exactly 4 partition (DOS/win9X, FreeBSD, Linux & Linux's SWAP). And then I think it's better to use FreeBSD's booteasy or os-bs than LILO as boot manager. I've had sudden annoying problems with LILO. I wonder how those linux folks can live with LILO? btw, I think there is a LINUX+FreeBSD MINI HOW-TO somewhere, if I'm not mistaken, it says how to share swap between FreeBSD and Linux.
