 I am not sure if the mouse is the cause of system lock-up, but, here
 is how to set up your mouse for the XFree86 server.

 1) If you intend to run `moused' for your serial EasyMouse (I have the
 same model :-), you will specify:

 moused_enable="YES"
 moused_port="/dev/cuaa0"
 moused_type="auto"

 in /etc/rc.conf (I assume the mouse is on COM1). The next time you
 start the system, `moused' will automatically run. You can
 also start `moused' manually: become root and type:

 	moused -p /dev/cuaa0 -t auto

 When you run moused, you tell the X server that the mouse port is
 "/dev/sysmouse" and the protocol is "Auto" or "SysMouse".

 2) If you are not running `moused', you tell the X server that the
 mouse port is "/dev/cuaa0" and the protocol is "Auto" or "MouseMan".
