My guess ISP, but may be proble in GSM provider.
Try to use windows to make datacalls, if it fails call GSM provider
support service.

Yes, but only over serial cable (DLR-3) and not very clean (some
functions do not work)

My guess FreeBSD port of gnokii miss difference between Linux and
FreeBSD in part of IrDA, but I personally do not look into code of
gnokii since it have no IrDA support at all. My previous 6150 work with
gnokii well both Infrared (not IrDA) and serial (not DLR-3 cable).
