I'm downloading newer binutils, I'm just guessing that this is some oddness due to FreeBSD's aout/elf combination at this point in time. I hope the newer tools are more friendly. Btw, i figured out that i was applying the patches to gcc2.7.2.2 incorectly, if i can fix this 'as' problem i'll be further on my way.
