Oh pardon me, I missed that point :-)
You could set up an MFS for /usr/obj then, and make sure to have -pipe
in your CFLAGS and COPTFLAGS which will (hopefully, I'm not very
familiar with the gutts of the buildworld and buildkernel make
targets) inhibit the creation of files in /tmp or /var/tmp by the
build tools.
