I have some patches which eliminate the use of rootdev for ffs, but 
still use it for NFS and other filesystems.  I was going to commit 
these but decided that perhaps _all_ of the rootfs-specific information 
should be parcelled in the rootdevnames[] data, including the VFS to be 
used for each mount. 

This would be more generalised, and make for more flexibility, but I'm 
not sure if this would actually be a specific win.  Comments?
