I didn't knowingly have any Hebrew fonts loaded, however I did find one
font (which doesn't really look Hebrew) that when removed no longer
crashes Claws or XChat.

I opened a bug report with all the details at GNOME's Bugzilla as you
suggested (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=604128).
