An easier (probably) way, if you have the CD is to use the upgrade option from sysinstall. First backup your /etc directory somewhere safe, and create a new boot floppy (for 2.2.2). Boot that floppy and choose the upgrade option. Go on to mount your filesystems (making sure their newfs flag stays N), choose the distributions you need, etc... Finally, you'll be put into the holographic shell to fix the files in /etc. If memory serves me, between 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 the file /etc/rc.conf was introduced, so this maybe a bit more involved than with other upgrades. However, with some common sense and your old files you should be able to do it easily enough. > > > > > thanks a lot, > > > > ibrahim. > > *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* > | FreeBSD; the way computers were meant to be | > * "The only reason I'm burning my candle at both ends, is * > | that I haven't figured out how to light the middle yet."| > * fullermd@futuresouth.com :-} MAtthew Fuller * > | http://keystone.westminster.edu/~fullermd | > *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Nadav
