I have not followed this whole thread much, but I did purchase a Dell
PowerEdge a while back and put FreeBSD on it. It has been great. It has
a hardware RAID system which is very well supported by FreeBSD and
everything else works as you would expect.
When you look info the Dell hardware you can check for yourself if it is
compatible. Part by part you should be able to figure it out.
